Our Amazing Jumping Baby!

So last week brought our latest baby doctor appointment right at 10 weeks and 5 days.  Anson couldn't get off work to go with me (I know, bummer!), but my wonderful little sister came along for the ride. the moral support, the ever constant possibility that if the poke me with a needle and I pass out and face plant, and of course, the promise of Yoforia after the appointment.  Side note, apparently they are opening a Yoforia in Peachtree City!  Holy cow, color me overjoyed.  Anyway, back to Baby.  So at this appointment I met with a midwife for the first time, which taught me something new: I am a fan of midwifery.  She was pretty much awesome and I fully endorse any health care professional with a sense of humor, so there you have it.  So here was our fun surprise of the day: another sonogram that I didn't even know we were going to get to have!  There is nothing I love more right now than getting to see that baby!  It is so nice to have the reassurance that, yes, we are still "in there".  First we got to hear heartbeat over the Doppler; sweet music to my ears.  And then we got to see baby with the sonogram.  Baby Ratliff has grown SO much since the last time we got to see him/her.  We saw his/her heart beating, a little face developing, hands and legs, and then it happened... right before our eyes... Baby Ratliff jumped for joy!

Beautiful.

Watching Wendy Williams with the Twins...

So as we speak, I am sitting in the loft watching Wendy Williams with my bestie's twin girls.  How you doin', right?  :)  As I sit here watching these little girls (they will be turning 2 in January), it is so exciting to think that in just a few short months Anson and I will be watching our own child grow and explore.  This makes me smile... Add it to the list of things to be thankful for:
*Borrowing my best friend's children as a window into my own future... :)

How you doin'?

Christmas Music and other things to be happy about...

1. Christmas music
2. Less than 3 weeks until my first trimester is over
3. Having to turn the heater on
4. Watching The Frog Princess for the first time today... and Pride and Prejudice for the thousandth time... so good.
5. Did I mention Christmas music?
6. I am married to Anson.  :)
7. Our wonderful new house that is so not in Vidalia... :)

In an effort to overcome my whiny-ness about being sick, there you have it.  7 whole things (ok, so one of them I used twice, but it was THAT good...) that I am very thankful for right now.  Power of positive thinking, right?  It is always good to remember even when I feel like poo that life is still pretty awesome right now!

Benadryl Hangover...

Went to the doctor today to try to nip a cold/sinus infection/whatever in the bud before driving to Florida tomorrow for Anson's grandpa's funeral.  The list of meds you can take when you are pregnant is short and lame... so I have a... you guessed it... or read it... Benadryl hangover.  Which currently makes words hard.

What a day...

I'll post more when I don't feel high.

On a happy note... Anson is getting Chick Fil A for us.  Right now.  As we speak.  This is very good news.

Medicine head out.

Dear Diary...

So here we go... I always felt that blogging was something that I should tap into.  In the world of things that could easily become obsessions for me, blogging ranks right up there at the top of the list... or at least the list of things within the realm of reality.  In truth, I'd probably like professional shopping or being a judge on American Idol better than blogging, but since my impeccable sense of style lends itself more to sale racks than haute couture, and the fine people at Fox opted for J-Lo over my application (I know, I couldn't believe it either, but whatev...), that left me with blogging.

So let's get started with the condensed Readers' Digest version of our lives lately... just in case I haven't already cornered you and explained it all in detail... The past year has been crazy, borderline retarded, really.  We started our roller coaster 2010 with our decision to start a family, and realized a three year dream of becoming former residents of south Georgia the day before we miscarried our first baby.  After a summer of house hunting, living with my parents, and slowly healing from our loss, we moved into our dream home in Senoia, adopted a bride until April, and yes, found out that we are pregnant again!  Things are looking so much better this time around, as we have already made it over the hump of our first loss.  Our first little Ratliff was lost to us when I was seven weeks along, and we are at about 9 and a half weeks now.  We have already seen and heard that beautiful little heartbeat, a sight and sound that we never experienced the first time around.  We are optimistic. And hopeful.  And already so in love with this little one.

Let's see what happens next...
